Incubation Economy Design Lead

Bungie is seeking a highly technical, creative, and team-oriented Economy Design Lead who is excited to help us build our next great IP. We are on the lookout for someone who will help us build a healthy in-game economy! You'll be responsible for helping design drop rates, reward curves, progression systems, and more. If something has the potential to be earned, spent, or traded, you'll help us figure out how, where, and when!




  • Own investment-focused systems concerning quest, weapon, armor, and equipment economy, progression, and rewards
  • Design, optimize, and implement these features to further the overall strategic vision of the product to improve retention, acquisition, and monetization in ways that respect our players
  • Build, model, and tweak the in-game economy using multiple currencies, progression systems, sinks, and faucets
  • Collect and analyze economic, engagement, and monetization data; report on performance, then suggest and implement optimizations
  • Directly manage a small team of designers and engineers
  • Invent, extend, and maintain processes, tools, workflows, and features for the team

Required Skills

  • Experience as a senior economic/progression systems designer with at least one shipped product under your belt (or other relevant experience)
  • Experience designing, documenting, and executing itemization, investment, or any other fundamental RPG game system at any scale
  • Ability to model your in-game economy in a software package of your choice
  • Ability to creatively align with the leadership team and then take initiative
  • Ability to effectively communicate across disciplines
  • Interest in playtesting, getting feedback, and giving feedback

Nice To Have Skills

  • Experience with and love of competitive games
  • Degree in Economics, Finance, or Statistics
  • Programming experience (Python, C, C#, LUA, etc)
