Destiny Franchise Head of Art

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced creative manager to run our art organization on Destiny. While we value and desire an artistic background, this position is primarily focused on people management and organizational health. This person will concentrate on resource planning, mentoring and coaching. Additionally, the Destiny Head of Art will identify training and development opportunities for the team, while also collaborating across disciplines throughout the studio to ensure art is meeting project deliverables. The right candidate will possess a compelling vision that will foster a happy, engaged, buoyant and ever-learning art organization!


  • Own art managerial organization, consisting of 100-160 managing and IC artists, communicate standards and processes for evaluating art management performance
  • Directly manage 4-8 art discipline managers and/or leads, providing ongoing constructive performance feedback, co-constructing performance goals, objectives, and development plans
  • Learn, strengthen, and extend the organizational infrastructure of our art organization through succession planning
  • Collaborate with art managers and Bungie Recruiting to identify, source, interview, and hire external talent
  • Drive best practices in craft to artistically grow our talent
  • Key Driver of Art as a “language” to support game design, beyond compelling aesthetics
  • Partner with Destiny Franchise Art Directors and Destiny Project Leads to drive executional strategy through the lens of Destiny product design
  • Collaborate with external publishers in Art related project matters as necessary
  • Represent entire art organization to GEOPS, PDMT, Destiny Franchise Leadership Team, and Bungie Leadership Team

Required Skills

  • 5-10 years leading and managing creatives on AAA console games or other art/design-related fields
  • A strong desire to focus on a management/strategic role within the art discipline, as opposed to a highly creative role
  • Experience in effectively managing personnel issues and developing a high performance team
  • Excellent leadership and effective communication skills
