Incubation Senior Vegetation Artist

As a vegetation artist on our project, you will be responsible for setting the visual target for our vegetation, and drive the creation of all vegetation on our project. You will collaborate with engineering and world art to create better workflows to create, place and optimize vegetation in our game. While your main focus will be vegetation, some part of your work will also involve architectural and decorative palettes.

Bungie is looking for someone who is excited about working on our next great IP, has great artistic skills and is highly self-motivated.

During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the creation of visually compelling vegetation palettes, that aligns with our art direction
  • Evaluate game performance and memory, and create (new) workflows and standards for our vegetation
  • Work together with our palette team to create high quality architectural and decorative palettes

Required Skills

  • Ability to create and drive our vegetation pipeline, and build high quality assets using speed tree
  • Ability to create high quality architectural and natural palettes using our palette standards and workflows
  • Ability to read and understand performance and memory reports, and desire to re-visit content when needed
  • Ability to closely follow art direction and concepts when available, and able to drive a visual language when concepts are not available
  • Ability to create optimized textures and materials using industry standard workflows
  • Self-driven, effective communicator and a great team player
  • Ability to thrive in a fast moving and ambiguous small team environment

Nice To Have Skills

  • Experience as an environment artist, and the ability to work closely with designers to build exciting gameplay spaces
  • Experience building new workflows, and working closely with engineering.
  • Strong closing mindset, and the ability to easily shift from art polish to optimizing perf and memory
  • Experience with Houdini, Substance Designer, Substance painter, 3dsMax and Marvelous Designer
  • Experience with and love of competitive games
