Senior Director of Accounting

Bungie is looking for an experienced accounting leader to partner, build, and scale a world class accounting function at one of the world’s leading independent video game developers of immersive interactive entertainment, beloved by millions of people around the world. This is an exciting opportunity to grow and develop a team, and take the company through its next phases of growth.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and based at Bungie's headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, the Senior Director of Accounting will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the accounting function. This is a key leadership role with high visibility across the organization. The Senior Director of Accounting will partner with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams in driving change management, process improvement, and scaling the finance organization, company infrastructure, and operations.

  • Transform the accounting function by leading strategy and execution across all accounting capabilities, including general ledger, revenue/accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls to achieve best in class operational effectiveness and efficiency across people, processes, policies, and systems
  • Partner with the CFO and Finance Leadership Team on establishing an overall roadmap for the finance organization
  • Build and manage a high-performing team, and create an organization structure that supports short and long-term objectives for the team and company
  • Oversee monthly close process, identify and implement improvements to increase accuracy, and shorten time to close
  • Coordinate with colleagues in Finance in the preparation and review of Bungie's financial reporting to the Leadership Team and Board of Directors
  • Oversee tax planning and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, payroll, property reporting requirements, and filings by coordinating with the company’s external tax advisor
  • Support international expansion plans from a tax, accounting, and financial reporting perspective
  • Coordinate with independent auditors to facilitate annual audits, interim reviews, and other projects
  • Monitor and control cash balances, cash forecasts, receipts, and disbursements, focusing on the protection of cash and compliance
  • Implement, enforce, and periodically review best practices for proper SOX internal controls
  • Partner with IT and Finance Leadership on systems planning; champion and roll out of new ERP system that will include enhancements to increase efficiencies and automation
  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues in HR and Legal to manage employee stock option plans and manage the capitalization table
  • Maintain banking relationships and compliance with all bank reporting requirements; manage debt reporting obligations and financial covenant compliance

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, Big 4 accounting experience and CPA required
  • Progressive experience in accounting management and finance leadership roles, ideally in high-growth, multinational companies with over a hundred million dollars in annual revenues; proven record of success within entrepreneurial environments
  • Strong people leadership skills and ability to coach, mentor, and develop future leaders
  • A self-directed and motivated personality
  • Strong GAAP, analytical, and financial reporting technical skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability with strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest standards in a fast-paced environment
  • Interactive entertainment or game industry experience preferred but not required
