Deputy General Counsel

Reporting to the company’s General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel will join the legal team at Bungie as its first full-time non-GC attorney. The Deputy General Counsel will have responsibilities spanning across the entire company and its activities as well as specific defined areas of oversight, and will be responsible for developing the company’s IP strategy and for preparing and supervising patent filings.

During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely.


  • Develop a deep understanding of the company’s business and its legal needs
  • Work with Bungie’s General Counsel and business group leads to develop IP portfolio strategy
  • Implement IP portfolio strategy
  • Work with outside law firms to manage patent portfolio filings and trademark filings while lowering costs
  • Draft patent filings as appropriate
  • Supervise ongoing patent litigation
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects as they arise

Required Skills

  • Valid license to practice law in Washington State or admissibility to the Washington State Bar
  • Experience with patent law and prosecution
  • Experience with trademark searching (“knockout” searches)
  • Working knowledge of and familiarity with non-US patent and other IP regimes
  • Ability to create structure from ambiguity and be a “self-starter” while doing it

Nice To Have Skills

  • Video games and/or entertainment industry experience
  • Contracts drafting skills
  • 5-7 years of IP law experience
