Bungie is looking for an experienced team lead to manage Destiny’s growing narrative department, which is comprised of the following disciplines: Writing, Cinematics, Narrative Design, Localization, and Audio. As the Narrative Department Manager you will learn, strengthen, and extend the organizational infrastructure of our narrative team. You will recruit, teach, coach, and mentor with the singular focus of building the industry’s most engaged, happy, and ever-learning narrative organization in the industry. You will also oversee the performance management process for the narrative department. While we value and desire a strong narrative background, this role is primarily focused on people management and organizational health.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage 5-6 narrative leads and independent contributors, providing support, mentorship, constructive feedback, and career development advice
  • Support Franchise and Bungie Recruiting in identifying, sourcing, interviewing, and hiring talent
  • Refine, communicate, and administer standards and processes for evaluating narrative team member performance
  • Scour the industry for best practices in craft, culture, and management, developing and leading strategies to mentor and grow our talent
  • Identify problems in the narrative team's organization, allocations, processes, practices, and communication, developing and implementing solutions
  • Help the Franchise Narrative Director define department philosophies, strategies, and narrative values
  • Relentlessly evangelize and hold people accountable to narrative philosophies and company values

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of managing and/or leading a narrative organization of 10+ people
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a senior narrative focused contributor(or above)
  • Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills
